Prithvi-II Test-firing successful

India on Monday successfully test-fired its indigenously developed nuclear-capable Prithvi-II missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Odisha’s Balasore districts, nearly 200 km from here.

The missile has a strike range of 350 km. It can carry a payload of 500-1000 kg, defence sources said.

The sophisticated surface-to-surface missile was rest-fired from a mobile launched in salvo mode from Launch Complex-3 at 9.15am.

Powered by Liquid propulsion twin engines, Pritiv-II uses advanced inertial guidance system with manoeuvring trajectory.

The missile, which is already inducted into the armed forces, was randomly chosen from production stock.
